Spring Soccer strikes again.
So Addie's spring soccer season began again. This spring has been so cold that we are all a little worried as to how miserable this season, like the past seasons will be. It was so bad they had to cancel practice last Saturday because of the snow on the ground. Ah, good times. She got put on a soccer team with another elementary school. It is actually really sad. All her other little friends are on the same team. ..the girls she has now been playing with for years. . .and they are all on the same team and then she and two other girls from Canyon got put on the team from Spanish Oaks. She was pretty broken hearted. People told me I could probably request for her to get put on the Canyon team but what does that teach her? When things aren't exactly what you want them to be like you make a stink and make it better? Or do you suck it up and stick it out? So I opted to have us all stick it out. So we are on this team where we don't know anyone and we get to the game last night and it seems we have taken a step back in our playing ability. Not Addie. . .just the team in general. The coach isn't separating them at all. . .no defenders, forwards, middles. ..nothing. Just a big herd again. It was so frustrating. For Addie too. They lost yesterday 0 - 4. Ugh! She was pretty discouraged. I was discouraged. Mike was discouraged. I am just not looking forward to another cold, losing season. So is it better to be the best on a losing team? Or the worst on a winning team? Addie is definitely the best on a losing team so I will see at the end of the season. One funny note is that Mike and I were on the sidelines and our team was not doing great and Mike said "And what is this little girl doing? She is just standing there." and he says this right as the coach is walking by and the coach says "It's the coaches daughter." He didn't say it mad or anything, but I am sure that wasn't exactly what he wanted to hear. In Mike's defense though, the coaches daughter was picking grass in the field. For a couple of minutes she went and sat in a camp chair on the sidelines and there were no subs. . .so our team was just without a player while she took a break. Yup, it's gonna be a long season. Now my work is cut out for me to keep Addie motivated and positive about soccer.
